Opening I-DEAS Documents in Solid Edge

You can open I-DEAS documents stored in a TDM database in Solid Edge with the Access TDM Database command. This command displays a wizard that assists you opening I-DEAS documents in Solid Edge.

You can also open I-DEAS documents in Solid Edge with the Open command. On the Open File dialog box, after you select the I-DEAS document you want to open, click the Options button to display the Import Options for I-DEAS (.XPK) dialog box. You can use the dialog box to control how the I-DEAS document is opened in Solid Edge.

Note:

Solid Edge version 15 supports I-DEAS version 10 and 10M3 PTF1, but does not support version 9. Solid Edge version 16 supports I-DEAS version 11.

The TDM2SE.ini file

The TDM2SE.ini file, found in the Solid Edge Program folder, is used to store the settings selected from the user interface. When you make a change to a parameter in the options form, a new value is saved to the TDM2SE.ini file.

TDM Lock Mode

You can the TDM2SE.ini file to set the TDM lock mode as files are checked out of TDM during the migration process. To use lock mode, you must add the LockMode parameter to the TDM2SE.ini file. The following describes how to use the parameter:

Parameter

Description

LockMode=0

Translator marks files for check out without locking them.

LockMode=1

Translator uses Import/Export lock instead of Checkout.

LockMode=2

Translator does not mark the files with Checkout or Import/Export.

Note:

If you do not add the LockMode parameter the translator acts as if the parameter was added and set to 0.
