The Image Options dialog box is available when saving the active view in your document as a image file of type .bmp, .tif, .jpg, .emf, or .wrl. You can access the Image Options dialog box when you select the File→Save As Image command, and then select the Options button on the dialog box.

Maintain Aspect Ratio

Maintains the window aspect ratio between the window height and width. If this box is checked, any changes in the Height or Width box will cause an automatic proportional change in the other box.

Units

Specifies the units of measurement to use when specifying the size of the image.

Width

Specifies the width of the window. The default value is the window width in pixels. If the Maintain Window Aspect Ratio box is checked, any changes you make to the width will cause an automatic proportional change in the Height box.

Height

Specifies the height of the window. The default value is the window height in pixels. If the Maintain Window Aspect Ratio box is checked, any changes you make to the height will cause an automatic proportional change in the Width box.

Resolution

Specifies the number used to compute the number of pixels needed to create the image.  

If you set the Units option to inches or centimeters, the width and height are multiplied by the resolution to generate the number of pixels needed for the image. For example, if you set the width to 4 inches and the resolution to 300 DPI, the width of the image would be 1200 pixels.

If you set the Units option to pixels, this option remains active, but the calculations for width and height are not performed.

If you key in a value, the value is used to compute the number of pixels needed to create the image, but it is not saved and added to the drop down list.

Color Depth

Specifies the number of bits of color information available for each pixel in the image. The color depths available are:

• 24 bit True Color

• 8 bit 256 Color

• 1 bit Monochrome

The color depths that are available depend on the type of image you are saving. For .bmp images, the available color depths are 24 bit True Color and 256 bit Color. For .jpeg images, the only available color depth is 24 bit True Color. For .tif images, the available color depths are 24 bit True Color and 256 bit Color, and 1 bit Monochrome.

Invert Monochrome Image

Allows you to invert the colors of a one bit monochrome image.  In other words, you can change white on black to black on white.

JPEG Image Quality

Specifies the quality for the JPEG image you want to save. You can set the quality to:

• Low

• Medium

• High

Alternate View Style

Specifies the view style for the saved image. This allows you to save an image with a view style different from the one that is displayed in the active window. Options available in the list include the active view style, the default view style, and any other view styles defined within the active document.
