Create a reference plane by 3 points

Step 1.

Do one of the following:

  • To create a global reference plane, choose Home tab→Reference group→More Planes→By 3 Points.

  • To create a local reference plane, on the command bar for the current feature, in the Plane options list, click the Plane by 3 Points option.

Step 2.

Select a point to define the reference plane's origin.

Step 3.

Select a second point to define the positive x-axis of the reference plane. The distance between point one and point two determines the width of the reference plane.

Step 4.

Select a third point to define the positive y direction of the reference plane. The perpendicular distance between the x-axis and point three determines the height of the reference plane.

Tip:

  • The reference plane is associative to the three input points.

  • You can use QuickPick to locate points.

  • The Keypoints option on the command bar can help you select points for reference plane creation.
