Place a gear relationship

  1. On the command bar, in the Relationship Types list, click the Gear button.

  2. On the command bar, specify the Motion Type you want.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • If you are applying the relationship to a part already in the assembly, select the part to which you want to apply the relationship.

    • If you are placing a new part into an assembly, select the face or edge for the gear relationship.

  4. Select a part in the assembly.

  5. On the part in the assembly, select the face or edge for the gear relationship.

  6. On the command bar, in the Value 1 and Value 2 boxes, define the ratio you want.

  7. Press Enter.

Tip:

  • When defining a rotation-rotation gear relationship, you can use the Teeth/Turns option on the command bar to specify whether the ratio you specify is based on the number of teeth on the gears, or the number of turns (revolutions) the parts make.

  • You can use the Flip button on the command bar to change the movement direction.
