Steps

Placement Part

Specifies the first part to which you want to apply the relationship. This button is active when adding a relationship to a part that already exists in the assembly, or when placing a subassembly into the assembly. This button is inactive when placing a new part in an assembly.

Placement Part—Element

Specifies which element on the placement part you want to use to define the relationship.

Target Part

Specifies the second part you want to use to define the relationship. You can select any part in the assembly.

Target Part—Element

Specifies which element on the target part you want to use to define the relationship.

Accept Position

Applies the assembly relationship using the input you defined.

command bar Options

Gear Type

Specifies the type of gear relationship.

  • Rotation-Rotation—Specifies that both components will revolve.

  • Rotation-Linear—Specifies that one component will revolve and the other component will move linearly.

  • Linear-Linear—Specifies that both components will move linearly.

Teeth/Turns

Specifies whether the ratio you define in the Value 1 and Value 2 boxes are the number of teeth on the gears or the number of turns (revolutions) the gears or pulleys make. This option is only available when the gear type is set to Rotation-Rotation.

Value 1

Specifies the value for the first component.

Value 2

Specifies the value for the second component.

Flip

Switches the relative motion direction of the gear components.
