Alternate Assemblies tab

Members

Displays the name of the active member. You can select a member from the list to make it the active member. You can also use the New, Delete and Save Member As buttons to create a new member, delete the active member, or to save the active member as a separate assembly. You can also use the Member Properties button to define properties for a member.

New

Accesses the Alternate Assemblies dialog box when creating a new alternate assembly or the New Member dialog box when adding to an existing alternate assembly. For a new alternate assembly, you define the type of alternate assembly you want and the names of the first two members. When adding to an existing alternate assembly, you define the name of one additional new member.

When you create a new alternate assembly, you must specify whether the assembly will be converted to (A) a family of assemblies or (B) an assembly containing alternate positions. Once the assembly has been converted, it cannot be changed from (A) to (B) or from (B) to (A).

Delete

Deletes the active member. A dialog box displays to confirm you want to delete the active member. You cannot delete the first member.

Save Member As

Displays the Save Member dialog box so you can create a separate assembly document for the active member. The new assembly document is a normal assembly that does not contain alternate assembly members.

Edit Table

Displays the Alternate Assembly Edit Table dialog box, which is table-driven user interface that allows you to perform the same actions on an alternate assembly as the Alternate Assembly tab. Additionally, the Alternate Assembly table allows you to view all members of the alternate assembly at one time.

Save All Members

Recomputes and saves all the alternate assembly members. The Save command saves the master document and recomputes and saves only the members which have been modified since the last save operation.

Apply Edits To All Members

Specifies that any edits you make to the assembly apply to all members when set. When this option is set, operations are considered to be global, and affect all members. When this option is cleared, operations are considered to be local, and affect only the active member.

Edits Applying To Individual Members

Lists the edits that apply to the active member. For example, when the Excluded Occurrences option is set, the list displays the parts and subassemblies you excluded from the active member. You can set the following list display options:

Member Variables

To add a variable, select a variable in the Variable Table, and then click the Add Variables button.

To remove a variable, select a variable in the list, and then click the Remove Variables button.

Occurrence Overrides

Occurrence overrides are created using the Replace command.

To remove an occurrence override, select the override in the list, and then click the Remove Override button.

Excluded Occurrences

Excluded occurrences are created using the Delete key on the keyboard.

To remove an excluded occurrence, select the excluded occurrence in the list, and then click the Remove Occurrences button.

Excluded Relationships

Excluded relationships are created using the Delete key on the keyboard.

To remove an excluded relationship, select a relationship in the list, and then click the Remove Relationships button.
